Tips for Business Cards

How to Make Your Business Cards Stand Out

Don't make a card like this one.

Business cards have been around for years, and for good reason. They are a very effective advertising tool used to get the customer’s attention. They are basically a 3 ½ inch by 2 inch card that contains information like you and your company’s name, website, address, email, and phone numbers, but there are ways to make them stand out without blowing your budget.

The benefits of using business cards are worth the cost. They remain an inexpensive and very effective form of advertising. The fact that they are small and easy to carry makes them convenient for both the giver and the recipient. A lot of important information can be found on them. They also last. TV and radio ads run for short lengths of time, where a business card stays with the customer forever. The best thing about business cards is that they are proven to work. That’s why almost every business relies on them so much.

If you truly want your investment in business cards to pay off, you will need to make them stand out. Your goal is to create something that won’t blend in with the pile of other cards your customers collect. It is especially effective if it turns into a card they tell others about or show off. Trying a new shape is a quick way to draw attention. A triangle or oval jumps out at you in a sea of rectangles. Even a square can create more interest. Just be careful to make them still be able to fit in one’s wallet or card holder.

Do something as simple as printing your information vertically instead of horizontally. This can be quite eye catching. Color always draws attention. Don’t be so quick to go with the standard whites. Try a bright to draw more attention. You can choose one that matches your business’s logo. If you have several employees try a trading card style. Have the company information on one side and their picture and personal information on the other. Some companies have gone so far as to make theirs out of chocolate. Remember to always be creative and fun.
